Capital Campaign for The Center for Safe Futures

Safe Futures is taking a monumental leap forward with the building of The Center for Safe Futures on Route 85 in Waterford, Connecticut. The Center will house more than 20 community partners to help break the cycle of abuse by providing access to life-saving services under one roof.

The Center for Safe Futures will be built on a beautiful 11-acre site on Route 85 in Waterford, Connecticut and will provide victims of abuse with access to immediate life-saving services. Victims will be able to meet with an advocate, talk with police and prosecutors, plan for their safety, and get access to emergency and longer-term assistance all under one roof. The Center is based on the Family Justice Center model, recognized nationally as a best practice for intervention and prevention of domestic violence.

“We are proud to be taking this monumental step in our 50th Anniversary year, enhancing wrap around services to victims, survivors and families.” – Katherine Verano, CEO

For victims, centralization will relieve them of having to navigate different locations and systems of access to services. It will reduce the amount of travel, repetitive applications, interviews, and debilitating fears about the confidentiality and safety of their outreach.

For Safe Futures, it will increase our capacity to help victims and enhance coordination of the many efforts of social-care providers. It will allow us to implement a single-support framework to help more victims and their families receive comprehensive care.

The Center for Safe Futures will provide victims of abuse with:

  • Behavioral and mental health counselors
  • Criminal, civil and law enforcement services
  • Housing and employment assistance
  • Immigration advocacy
  • Medical and substance use disorder services
  • Safety planning, protective services, and more
