Criminal Cases:
The Safe Futures criminal family violence victim advocate works with you from the time of arrest and arraignment until disposition of the case in the court process:
- Provide a risk and lethality assessment
- Advocate for protective orders and modifications
- Ensure your rights as a victim in the court process
- Prepare victim impact statements
- Counseling, safety planning, and referrals
Civil Cases:
The Safe Futures civil family violence victim advocate works with you to navigate the civil court process including:
- Provide a risk and lethality assessment
- Applying for a Temporary Restraining Order (TRO) from abuse
- Attend TRO hearings as your advocate
- Assist you with domestic violence-related court paperwork regarding custody, visitation, and financial assistance
- Counseling, safety planning, and referrals
